StaySafe is required to ask you for Permission to use certain features on your phone. The purpose of this article is to outline what the main Permissions are, and why we request them.

We have further guidance available on Android and iOS specific permissions.

Permissions

Notifications

StaySafe will send you Notifications when you need to be aware of something. This could be to Remind you to Check-in, or a Non-Movement Alert as you haven't moved for a prolonged period of time.

The notifications allow for Admins to contact Users if they need to communicate something across the team.

Enabling Notification Permissions will help you to remember to do things on the app and prevent false Alarms from going off, which is in everyone's best interest!

Location

When you trigger an Alarm using the StaySafe app, your Location is shared with your emergency contacts.

The StaySafe Hub will be able to show where the Panic has been raised on the map, and send your coordinates to your Responders so they can assist accordingly.

If you do not enable Location Permissions, you won't be able to use the StaySafe app. Locating you in an emergency is vitally important for your safety.

SMS

In an area of Low Signal, StaySafe will send vital communications via SMS if there isn't a strong enough data connection.

Enabling SMS Permissions will allow you to still raise a Panic Alarm in areas of poor connectivity, as well as preventing false Alarms.

You will only be asked to enable SMS Permissions if Low-Signal Mode is enabled in your Organisation.

Phone

If you are using a BS8484 accredited StaySafe solution, your Phone will call a Response Partner if you raise a Panic Alarm on the app.

Having Phone Permissions enabled allows the Response Partner to verify very quickly whether the Alarm you have triggered is genuine or not. And, make sure help gets to you sooner if there is a problem.

You will only be asked to enable Phone Permissions if your organisation has Two-Way Audio enabled.

NOTE: This functionality is only available for Android devices. iPhone users will be requested to confirm if they wish to contact the Emergency Services when the Panic Alarm is pushed.
