How we gather your Location Data.
When using Data or 4G location services on your phone, we use GPS, a radio navigation system. It uses radio waves between satellites and a receiver inside your phone to provide location and time information to any software, i.e. StaySafe, that needs to use it.
The primary difference between GPS and WiFi locating technologies is in the method of gathering location data. GPS uses satellites that orbit around the Earth to triangulate a user's location, whereas WiFi finding technology uses relative network signal strength gathered at network access points.
When there is no data or WiFi, StaySafe can use Low Signal Mode, which triangulates your location based on GPS data. So it has greater coverage and will allow you to use the app in more remote areas.
How we use your Location Data
StaySafe only accesses your location data when you are actively running a session, have triggered an alert, and/or if you have a reminder set up in the app. We will only ever share your location data during a session or if you have triggered an alert.
We use your location to send periodic location updates to the Hub for approximately 2-3 minutes. The user must enable the permissions for location updates for the StaySafe app to work efficiently.
