While in a session, StaySafe will continually send location data to your organisation's hub so that if you need assistance, your employer will be able to locate you easily.
The use of locations services, will always consume battery life, but we use several techniques to minimise the impact on battery life. Most phone batteries have enough power for a session to be run on our default setting for the full day. However, if you use your device heavily, or if its battery has degraded, you may wish to reduce the power intake of the StaySafe app.
When we can, we use other sources of location data which are not as battery intensive. For example, location data from mobile cell towers and Wi-Fi networks.
We also share location data with other apps, so if you are running other apps that also use location services, then we can piggyback on these without further draining the battery.
Finally, you can Change your Battery Settings, and control the balance of prioritisation between location updates and battery life. If your device is running low, you can reduce how much battery we use.
Note: it is best to adjust your battery settings inside the app, instead of using your phones battery saving, as this may prevent your location being sent to your responders.
