A session is a period of working alone without direct supervision. If something goes wrong whilst you are lone working your company to be able to locate you, and get the help you need. Your location data will only be shared when you are running a live session.

You should start a session before you begin working alone so that your company can see where you are, and that you are okay.

While in a session, you will be asked to check-in periodically, and when you are no longer working alone, you will have to end the session. If you do not check-in on time, or end your session, an alert will be sent to your organisations responders.

How to Run a Session

Start Session

To begin, all you need to do is tap on ‘Start Session’ in the app.

Set Timer

You will be asked to estimate how long this session will last. You will be given the option to either set an end time or set a session duration.

Set Location

The app will then pull your location from your phone.

Your location may not be perfectly accurate, so, if it isn’t set to where you are exactly, press and hold the icon to where you are

Add Note

You will then be asked to add a note, your company can decide if this is optional or mandatory, but it is a good idea to write a brief description of where you are and where you are going.

For example, if you are in a large building, while the app can tell what building you will be in, it cannot say what room or floor you are in.

During a Session

While you are in a session, there are many things you can do:

Timer

At the top of your screen ther is a count-down timer. This will tell you both how much longer of your session remains, and at what time it is due to end. If you swipe left on the timer, it will tell you how much time you have until your next check-in and at what time it is due.

Check-in

Most organisations setup regular check-in intervals for their lone workers to make sure they are okay. This is usually once an hour, but is customisable by your company. You will be notified between up to 15 minutes before your check-in is due.

You can check in at any time and the clock will reset.

For example, if you start your session at 12pm and your check in interval is hourly, you will be notified between up to 15 minutes before that hour is up. When you are notified, you should check-in, and you will have another hour before you need to do so again

If you do not check-in before the hour is up, you will trigger an alert and your responders will be notified that you have missed a check-in and follow their response procedure to check that you are okay.

NOTE: It is a good idea to check-in when you arrive and leave places so that you do not need to check-in while travelling or while on site. You can leave a note with updated information on where you are and where you are going.

Extend Session

If your session is lasting longer than you initially expected, you can extend your sessions at any time. To do this, simply tap on the Extend button and enter your Safe PIN. You will be asked to estimate how long your session will last and when you want it to end.

End Session

When you finish lone working, you should end your session. Just tap the ‘end’ button, and enter your Safe PIN to end your session.

Once your session has ended, we will no longer track your location.

Panic

You can use the app to trigger a Panic Alert at any time, including while you are in a session. There are Different Ways to Trigger a Panic Alert, but you can always tap the Panic button on your home page to trigger the alert.

Once you have panicked, your company responders will follow their response policy, and take steps to make sure you are okay.

If you wish to cancel your Panic Alert, tap Cancel Alert and enter your Safe PIN to end it. This will also end your session, so if you are still lone working, you will need to start a new one.
