We leveraged Garmin inReach messaging to bring you Satellite Mode. Now, we have extended this functionality to allow seamless communication between the app and the hub via satellite.
When a Lone Worker triggers an alarm, a responder can check in with them and determine the severity. Similarly, the Lone Worker can send messages to update the responder to any issues or to de-escalate concerns.
Activate 2-Way Messenger
Please make sure that you have an active Garmin Satellite subscription, and that it has been properly configured to work with StaySafe.
Once the configuration is complete, kindly reach out to StaySafe Support at Support@staysafeapp.com and request that the Garmin Messenger feature be activated for your account.
You will need to provide an API key for us to activate the feature for you:
1. Log into your inReach Account:
Visit the Garmin inReach website: https://explore.garmin.com/Account/LogOn
Enter your credentials to log in to your inReach account.
2. Accessing Portal Connect Settings:
Once logged in, navigate to the Settings section.
Locate and click on the "Portal Connect" option. This is where you'll configure the integration settings.
3. Configuring Inbound Settings:
Under the Portal Connect settings, locate the "Inbound Settings" section.
Next, toggle the "V2 Settings" option.
To generate an API Key, give it a name and set an expiry date (the duration for which the API will be valid). We recommend setting the expiry to one year from the activation date.
Click "Generate," then send us the Key Value and Expiry Date.
Once the feature is set up on our end, we will provide confirmation.
This will enable full messaging functionality with the Garmin device.
Once enabled you can now use the 2-way messenger feature.
