Setting up Garmin inReach Mini in the StaySafe System & Garmin Explore site

This Article refers to the initial set up of the Garmin platform to work with the StaySafe System. This article shows how to use the Garmin device

In order for StaySafe 4 to receive message payloads from inReach devices, the Enterprise inReach account to which the devices are registered needs to be configured.

The steps are:

  1. Login to your inReach account at https://explore.garmin.com/Account/LogOn

  2. Go to Settings > Portal Connect.

  3. Under Outbound Settings add the appropriate URL for StaySafe from the list below.

Device Set up in the StaySafe Platform

In order to link an inReach device to StaySafe Lone Worker the following steps are needed:

  1. Identify the inReach device IMEI number

  2. Within an Organisation, navigate to the Team, then Devices

  3. Choose Add a New Device

Notes

  1. As a minimum you need to provide the Device Type and IMEI Number

  2. The IMEI Number must be globally unique across StaySafe Lone Worker

  3. A device can be optionally assigned to a user, and the user can be changed

  4. To move the device from one team to another is must be deleted then re-added


Detailed Instructions

1. Identify the inReach device IMEI Number

Obtaining the IMEI number of an inReach device
The IMEI number for a Garmin inReach device can be found from Settings > About This Device.


2. Add the device to StaySafe under a team.

The user the inReach device is to be associated with must already exist in StaySafe.

(a) Go to the Organisation > Team > Devices and click Add a New Device:

(b) Enter the device details and associate with an existing user making sure all required fields are completed:
