If you are having difficulties Setting up your V.BTTN in the app for the first time, here are some simple steps you can take to resolve the issue.

Phone Settings

Enable Bluetooth

The V.BTTN connects to your phone via Bluetooth, so make sure your Bluetooth is turned on.

Update your phone and app to the latest version

It is important to keep your phone on the latest OS. Out of date, operating systems are prone to bugs, updating your phone will often solve issues.

Ensure the StaySafe app can access your location.

If the app cannot access your location, then we cannot connect to a V.BTTN. You can check this in your phone settings by going to Settings > Apps > StaySafe > Location.

V.BTTN Settings

Reset your V.BTTN

Power down the V.BTTN by pressing and holding the button for 30 seconds. Once you hear two beeps and two flashing red lights, the device will be turned off.

Note - wait the full 30 seconds until you hear the two beeps before releasing

Wait a further 30 seconds and restart your V.BTTN by pressing and holding the button for 10 seconds, or until you hear a beep followed by a flashing green light.

The button will then show in Settings > Configure Buttons > Available Buttons > Tap to Connect.

Ensure your V.BTTN is fully charged

Once you have reset your V.BTTN and put it in pairing mode, if it doesn't turn on this may indicate the battery is dead. You can test this by pressing and holding the button for 30 seconds. If there is no beep, or flash, it is likely your battery is dead and you need to replace it.

If your V.BTTN is flashing red and green, this indicates an issue with the battery, and it should be replaced.

The battery is a standard CR2032 battery.

App Settings

Connect via the StaySafe app

The V.BTTN connects to your phone via Bluetooth. It is important not to connect via your phone's Bluetooth settings, but through the StaySafe app.

You can check if you have connected via your phone, and not the app, by going to your phone's Settings > Bluetooth > My devices.

If the V.BTTN is there, please forget the device in the Bluetooth menu, and connect through the app.

If you have downloaded the V.ALRT app and connected via that app you won't be able to connect your V.BTTN through the StaySafe app. Please delete the V.ALRT app.

Delete and re-install the StaySafe app

This will remove the local memory, and allow it to re-pair. You will need to put the V.BTTN into pairing mode to it connect again.
