What are Response Procedures & Who are they for?

Response Procedures are instructions that your Responders should follow when they are responding to an alarm. These instructions are presented to the Responder when responding to an alarm. They will help the Responder to verify whether an alarm is genuine or not and how to escalate the alarm if it is a genuine one.

Identifying a procedure is important for self-monitored organisations so a line manager is fully informed on how to respond to an alarm.

You should document and store your procedures on the Hub for reference by your responders for StaySafe to be used to its greatest effect. Most response procedures consist of 3 main elements:

  • How to Verify an alarm is genuine.

  • What do you do if the Lone Worker does not answer the phone.

  • How to escalate your alarm if you verify it as genuine.

Many organisations will either document a step by step process or will compile a flow chart that can easily followed by a Responder.
