Geofencing allows you to define specific geographic areas in the StaySafe Hub. Lone workers receive notifications to acknowledge when they either enter or exit these areas, ensuring an added layer of safety and awareness.
How to add a Geofence
From the Insights page, click on the Features option in the left side menu.
Scroll down from Session Features to Geofence then select 'Add Geofence' on the right side.
First, give your geofence a clear, descriptive name to easily identify the area it covers.
Now itโs time to create your Geofence.
To do so, simply follow the steps below:
1. Go to geojson.io | powered by Mapbox
2. Enter the desired location for your geofence using the search bar or by
manually zooming in.
3. Zoom in or out to ensure the correct area is visible and accurately selected.
4. Use the polygon tool on the right to map out the geofence area.
5. Once the area is mapped, the GeoJSON code will appear on the right side of the screen.
6. Click Save in the top-left corner of the screen to download the geofence.
Now you can upload your geofence to StaySafe.
Next to Select a GeoJSON file click Browse and choose the file you previously downloaded.
Select the type you would like to assign your Geofence, for example: Building, Area, Zone or Site.
Choose the severity level of the Geofence.
Geofences can be set with different risk levels to support reporting and response: Green, Amber, and Red.
Green areas are considered low risk and monitored as standard, with no immediate concerns.
Amber zones cover areas with potential or elevated risk โ for example, regions near flood zones or close to industrial sites where hazardous materials are present. These areas may require extra caution or regular checks.
Red zones are high risk and usually restricted. These could include active disaster areas or sites with dangerous industrial activity, where access needs to be tightly controlled.
This system helps teams quickly understand risk levels and respond appropriately, without overcomplicating the process.
Next, select whether a lone worker should be notified when they enter the geofence, exit the geofence or both.
Lastly, you can choose if the geofence to applies to all lone workers in your organisation or if you would only like it to apply to a specific team(s).
Press upload Geojson to add your Geofence to the map page.
